Process Facilitation Training
Our Starting Point:
Our starting point is comprehensive training in Process Facilitation, provided in 3 stages as follows.
Facilitation 1: Processes, Techniques and Logistics
This is a highly interactive workshop designed to prepare Process Leaders to enter the field of facilitation as a practitioner. It is state-of-the-art training that has made many facilitators conspicuously successful in their organizations, in their private practice and in their communities. It provides full integration of the processes, techniques, and logistics of facilitation and provides learners with the vocabulary of the field.
For some participants, the concepts and practices presented will be new. For others, they will confirm their current approach and perhaps offer alternatives. For all participants, the workshop offers an integrated framework for learning how to facilitate, continuously learn new process ideas, and make the facilitator’s work increasingly more useful to the group and the organization.
Facilitation 1 also offers a standard against which to measure oneself. The Facilitator’s CoreSkills Inventory consists of measurable skills for participants to gauge their strengths and weaknesses. With the help of a personal coach, the participant gets structured feedback on what to concentrate on during the learning sessions and ongoing assistance during and after the learning session.
Facilitation 1 is largely practice-based. Short theory sessions and demonstrations are followed by extensive hands-on practice and coaching sessions on practice cases. Because everyone is trying to support each other’s learning, the work atmosphere is positive, engaging and motivating, whether in person or online.
Who Should Attend?
This 40 hour learning event is designed for all those who are called upon to provide Process Facilitation to their organizations such as managers and practitioners concerned with Organization Development in such fields as:
- Change Management
- Community Consultation and Engagement
- Conflict Resolution
- Safety Management
- Human Resource Management
- Project Management
- Quality Assurance
Key Points of Learning
In this workshop, participants will learn how to:
- Select a process to help a work group handle a full range of situations;
- Explain a process to a group and then guide them through it;
- Focus the group’s energy on what is high priority;
- Help the group identify and confront its tensions and conflicts;
- Build the group into a team based on the result it wishes to achieve;
- Model and transfer to the group behaviours that are productive and positive;
- Increase the group’s capacity to use reliable information.
Facilitation 2: Process Leadership
Once an organization has adopted the basic skills of facilitation and has acquired some experience with Process Leadership and process awareness, it might progress to provide further learning to those facilitators who are called upon to deal with the larger scale issues of the organization: for example, Strategic Planning, Stakeholder Engagement, Risk Management and Governance Development all have an effective process as a fundamental requirement.
Facilitation 2: Process Leadership is an advanced program consisting of 40 hours of further study and practice in the skills of facilitation as they relate to Organization Development or the ongoing management of organizational change. This workshop has the RANA Facilitation I workshop as a pre-requisite.
Facilitation 3: Practicum Studies for the Professional FacilitatorFacilitation 3 Practicum Studies provides the client organization with a completely professional facilitator who has been tested in the place of work, mentored, and coached as required to provide Process Leadership. These facilitators lead in the development of process-savvy organizations. Their studies generally lead to certification through the International Association of Facilitators if and as desired by the organization and the practitioners themselves.
